7. He Loves ‘Branding’
No, not that type of branding, get your mind out of the gutter.
Well, this might not be a surprise considering all of WWE’s silly taglines nowadays, but hearing McMahon actually explain it was pretty damn interesting.
Whether it be the most “STUPENDOUS” two-night WrestleMania ever, the “HORROR SHOW” at Extreme Rules, SummerSlam where “YOU’LL NEVER SEE IT COMING”, or whatever elsethey come up with, WWE loves to go that extra mile in an attempt to make each of its events sound bigger than the last.
McMahon went into why that is, using the specific example of stupendous for this year’s WrestleMania, saying:
“I love branding. We try to brand everything, and marketing, it’s just fascinating to do that. So you have to (think), ‘What makes this WrestleMania different?’ So, the word stupendous is not used very often. So when you’re hitting stupendous, it’s like, ‘Stupendous? What the hell is stupendous?’ A lot of people have to look it up.
“It sounds good, it sounds grand – ‘Stupendous!’ I haven’t used that word before and it’s not in everyday speak, stupendous is not in everyday speak, so that’s why, you wanna do something to get everyone’s attention.”

Makes sense when you think about it, even though it does sounds pretty silly when they say it 247 times every show.
