AEW plans for Samoa Joe vs. Jack Perry after All Out return

Samoa Joe is back and it seems that Jack Perry may get his wish when it comes to facing another former AEW World Champion.

Jack Perry recently called out Samoa Joe, eyeing a potential match at AEW All Out, only for it to be revealed that he would have to go through Katsuyori Shibata first.

That match would take place on the AEW All Out pre-show, with Perry defeating Shibata, and Samoa Joe returning shortly after. It now looks like Joe and Perry are on a collision course:

What Did Samoa Joe Do?

Samoa Joe’s return comes after he finished filming the upcoming series of Twisted Metal, with the star making his way to the ring looking extremely serious while Jack Perry demanded to know where the leader of The Opps was.

With Perry offering his hand to the returning star, Samoa Joe would initially walk away, leading to a demand to “shake my hand” from the wannabe World Champion.

Perry would almost get his wish, with Joe taking his hand, but only to draw him in close enough to lay him out with a headbutt, saying nothing about the challenge for a match.

When will Jack Perry get a shot at Samoa Joe?

Hopefully, not soon.

For Jack Perry, he wants to face former AEW World Champions, having lost to Jon Moxley and Swerve Strickland last month.

There is an argument to be made that Perry should have to do some work to face any other AEW World Champions, instead of them just rocking up to face him on Dynamite.

Before stepping up to Joe, Perry could have to face the remaining members of The Opps: Action Andretti, Anthony Bowens, and Hook before finally reaching the top of the mountain.

Anthony Bowens

Perry and Bowens have crossed paths a number of times over the years, with their last encounter being on the Maximum Carnage episode of Collision in January of this year.

For that outing, it was Perry who would be victorious in the AEW National Championship number one contender’s match.

HOOK

For a brief period, Perry and HOOK teamed together as JungleHOOK, with 2023 also seeing them face each other in singles action.

During that period, HOOK would defeat Perry to become FTW Champion at All In: London.

Revisiting the friendly turned rivalry would certainly make for an interesting match, given their contrasting styles.

Action Andretti

Perry and Action Andretti have faced off once in AEW, back in 2024, with the former Jungle Boy retaining the TNT Championship on the November 9 episode of Collision.

Andretti is the current ROH World Television Champion, giving a possibility of Perry making his presence felt in Ring of Honor in a challenge for that title.

Samoa Joe

All this brings us to Samoa Joe, a star that Jack Perry has never faced and an opponent that he may be unprepared for.

Samoa Joe is a dominant presence in the ring and a two-time AEW World Champion, along with two reigns as TNT Champion and being a former World Trios Champion.

For Perry, when the moment comes, facing Samoa Joe should be on a pay-per-view and certainly not a pre-show. In an ideal world, Perry should fight for his life to just survive the match with the no-nonsense star, perhaps with the other members of The Opps ensuring the challenger doesn’t get too far away.

Will A Loss To Samoa Joe Matter?

It really should! Perry claimed that he is learning from each defeat he suffers on his quest to be AEW World Champion, but there is an argument to be made that losing to everyone doesn’t set any star up to be a number one contender.
