WWE main roster champions to appear for NXT: More Raw & SmackDown stars to visit the developmental brand following Chad Gable

Chad Gable recently brought the WWE Intercontinental Championship to NXT, defending his gold at two non-televised live events.

At the September 25 house show in Columbia, South Carolina, Gable put his title on the line against Saquon Shugars.

He also defended the Intercontinental Title at the September 26 event in Greensboro, North Carolina, against Uriah Connors.

Following Gable’s appearance, there are several other champions on Raw and SmackDown who it’d make sense to see appear for NXT, whether that’s to put rising prospects to the test on the house show circuit, or for significant storylines on televised programming.

Here are three current champions who could soon pay visits to WWE NXT.

United States Champion Trick Williams

Following the Raw midcard champion’s NXT visit, it’d make sense to see SmackDown’s secondary men’s champion return to the Performance Center.

With Trick Williams defeating Baron Corbin in a Steel Cage match on the September 25 SmackDown episode, the US Champion will be looking for new challengers.

It’d be interesting to see Williams defend his gold in NXT, given his history with the brand, following his reigns with the North American and NXT titles.

From former rivals to competitors who arrived in NXT following Williams’ departure, there are plenty of options for potential US Championship matches on the developmental brand.

Women’s US Champion Jacy Jayne

Jacy Jayne is one of several main roster champions who only made their Raw or SmackDown debut this year, with Fatal Influence joining the blue brand in April.

With Jayne winning the Women’s US Championship from Tiffany Stratton on the August 14 SmackDown episode, it’d be a full circle moment to see her bring this title back to NXT, where she competed for a few months short of five years.

With the NXT women’s division considered by many to be the best female pro-wrestling division in the world, it’d be interesting to see Jayne mix it up with the stars currently flying the NXT flag.

Jayne has defended the Women’s US Championship once at the time of writing, defeating Paige on the August 28 edition of SmackDown.

World Tag Team Champion Austin Theory

Grayson Waller and Austin Theory last teamed together on the June 28, 2025 episode of WWE Main Event, with “A-Town Down Under” coming up short against Erik and Ivar of the War Raiders.

There was no dramatic break-up, with Waller and Theory instead quietly going their separate ways, leading to Waller becoming NXT Champion and Theory holding the World Tag Team Title with The Vision teammate Bron Breakker.

With the duo previously trading verbal shots, there has been some speculation about a potential match between the former WWE Tag Team Championship partners.

With Waller looking for new NXT Championship challengers following his title defense against EK Prosper, it’d be an interesting turn of events to see Austin Theory step up to the plate.
