Two more matches to be added to WWE Money in the Bank 2026: A championship defense & a big grudge match planned?

We’re inching closer to the much-anticipated WWE Money in the Bank 2026 premium live event on October 10, and the field for the men’s and women’s ladder matches is taking shape.

We also have, what will presumably be the show’s main event as Roman Reigns defends the World Heavyweight Championship against LA Knight.

As well as these three matches, we could see another two or three additions to the card in New Orleans, LA; with titles potentially being contested and rivalries being settled.

Here are two more matches that could potentially be added to WWE Money in the Bank 2026.

Undisputed WWE Championship – Sami Zayn (c) vs. CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens

Kicking off what was a weekend of title changes across WWE and AAA, Sami Zayn defeated CM Punk on the September 11 episode of SmackDown to become a two-time Undisputed WWE Champion.

Zayn’s first SmackDown as champion last night in Corpus Christi saw no title celebration however, as Zayn was instead booked in impromptu title defense against former best friend Kevin Owens in the show’s main event.

Thankfully for Zayn he managed to survive Owens and ensure that his second title reign will go beyond the nine days of his first. However, that win was marred by outside interference, as Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae, as well as CM Punk played a major role in how the match ended up going.

With Punk and Owens getting involved in each other’s title matches over the past two weeks, Nick Aldis may decide to book a three-way between them and Zayn for the WWE Title at Money in the Bank. Zayn will certainly not be happy with the announcement, but a win over his rivals could allow him to finally move past them, for now at least.

Johnny Gargano could potentially also be added into the equation given Zayn’s promise regarding a future title shot, but it feels likelier that Sami will string his ‘friend’ along a little while longer before he gets that opportunity.

Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton

The September 18 WWE SmackDown saw Cody Rhodes make his first appearance since losing to Randy Orton at Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Sitting down with Michael Cole for an interview, Rhodes showed signs of a darker side to him as he promised Cole he would not hesitate the next time he has the opportunity to kill off Randy Orton.

A clip posted by Triple H on social media immediately after the interview showed even further evidence that Rhodes has changed in a way, and with Randy Orton losing his Money in the Bank qualifier elsewhere on the show, both men are without plans for October 10.

WWE could not only cap off the Rhodes vs. Orton trilogy in New Orleans, but also use the match to solidify ‘The American Nightmare’ turning to the dark side.
