In 2025, WWE acquired Lucha Libre AAA with various stars from the roster arriving in the Mexican promotion.
The likes of El Grande Americano, Chad Gable, Rey Fenix and Lola Vice have made their presence felt in AAA over the past year.
Looking at the current WWE roster, there are plenty of other stars who could make their way to AAA in the coming months.
Here are seven more WWE main roster stars to potentially debut in Lucha Libre AAA.
7. Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano has spent the past few months laying around on a crate backstage following Tommaso Ciampa’s WWE departure
For the past few months, Johnny Gargano has been seen backstage lying face-down in a depressed state.
After losing his DIY tag team partner and a series of failures, Gargano has not been competing inside the squared circle as of late.
Wanting to get back to who he used to be, Gargano might need a fresh new scenery to explore and could get that in Mexico.
“Johnny Wrestling” debuting in AAA would be fitting to see him mix it up with all the great talent in the promotion, such as El Hijo del Vikingo, Laredo Kid and Octagon Jr.
6. Candice LeRae

Candice LeRae has spent most of her time outside the ring as Johnny Gargano’s manager in 2026 so far
Speaking of Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae has also found herself not actively competing inside the ring as of late.
LeRae has long been one of the most underrated female stars on the WWE roster for years.
Needing a new lease on her WWE career, LeRae might find more reps inside the squared circle by heading to Lucha Libre AAA.
Mixing it up with the likes of Flammer, La Catalina and La Hiedra, Candice can finally be showcased as the accomplished in-ring competitor she has always been.
5. Ivy Nile

Ivy Nile has not appeared on WWE television since she pinned IYO SKY as part of the Intercontinental Championship Contenders Gauntlet match on March 9
Over the past few months, several members of American Made have been making their mark in Lucha Libre AAA.
Led by Chad Gable under the Original El Grande Americano mask, The Creed Brothers joined their stablemate in his feud with El Grande and Los Americanos.
The one member of American Made who hasn’t made their way to AAA is Ivy Nile.
Despite Gable being unmasked and returning to WWE, Nile could lead the way for The Creeds and American Made to continue their presence in AAA.
4. Thea Hail

Thea Hail has captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship during her four years on the NXT roster
Looking at the WWE NXT roster, Thea Hail is one of the longest tenured members of the brand over the years.
In 2025, Hail finally won her first title on the brand when she captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
At just 22 years old, Hail has all the makings of one day becoming a top star in the WWE women’s division.
Thea Hail heading to Lucha Libre AAA could help her to continue to learn everything she needs to one day head to the main roster as a complete performer.
3. Ilja Dragunov

Ilja Dragunov captured the United States Championship upon his return from injury back in October
After returning to WWE in October 2025, Ilja Dragunov quickly showed why he is widely regarded as one of the best in-ring performers in the company today.
“The Mad Dragon” put on a litany of memorable bouts against the likes of Carmelo Hayes, Sami Zayn and JD McDonagh.
While he deserves a more prominent role on Friday Night SmackDown, Dragunov might need to head to Mexico to rise up the ranks again.
Dragunov heading to AAA might be the best way for the former United States Champion to revitalize his career moving forward.
2. Roxanne Perez

Roxanne Perez left WWE NXT with two NXT Women’s Championship reigns under her belt
The Judgment Day has had several members of the team head to Lucha Libre AAA over the past year.
Dominik Mysterio currently reigns as the AAA Mega Champion, while JD McDonagh and Raquel Rodriguez have competed in the promotion as well.
Roxanne Perez has proved herself to be a workhorse in the WWE women’s division and could shine if given the opportunity in AAA.
“The Prodigy” going against stars like La Catalina and Flammer could be a logical next step in her progression before being permanently placed in the upper echelon of the WWE women’s division.
1. Shinsuke Nakamura

Shinsuke Nakamura has been attempting to recruit Tama Tonga away from the MFTs in recent months
Despite being one of the most decorated and longest tenured members of the WWE roster, Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t been featured in a major way over the past year.
“The King of Strong Style” is someone who is no stranger to lucha libre, having competed in CMLL in the past.
Moving a veteran presence to AAA, Nakamura would be beneficial for every other member of the roster in the near future.
Nakamura becoming a challenger for the AAA Mega Championship or mixing it up with El Hijo del Vikingo would be an excellent way to feature him in one of the company’s brands at this time.
