3. Hangman Page vs. Adam Cole for the AEW World Championship – AEW Revolution 2022
The rivalry between Hangman Adam Page and Adam Cole came to a head in the main event of AEW Revolution 2022.
This had the big match feel right from the start with elaborate entrance and pay-per-view gear for both men. The contest started with some good mat work before it broke down into a fight.
Both stars hit big moves with some thrilling counters back and forth. Page hit a moonsault fallaway slam off the top rope for a nearfall, while Cole hit the Panama Sunrise on the floor for a nearfall of his own.
Adam Cole hit a series of superkicks and had reDRagon come down to assist their friend.
Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish moved the timekeeper’s table near the apron, but Page reversed Cole and drove him through the table with a Deadeye.
The Dark Order came down to fight off reDRagon. Hangman hit the Buckshot Lariat for another close nearfall.
Hangman Page looked for revenge on Cole by tying him to the top rope in a similar fashion to what the challenger did to him and started landing some superkicks of his own.
After taking a superkick from Cole, Hangman landed one more of his own, then hit The Boom and hit one more Buckshot Lariat to retain the AEW World Title.
This was an excellent main event that told an effective story to give the champion a quality win at the end of a great pay-per-view.
