Ten Potential Challengers For AEW Champion Jon Moxley

3. Darby Allin

Darby Allin has come a very long way in his first year in AEW. From his first match with Cody, he has not looked back. Allin has been a shining example of someone who can get tremendously popular through losing and fighting through adversity. He defeated Sammy Guevara at Revolution, giving him the big win necessary to jump up the card.

Allin and Moxley had a great match on Dynamite last Fall, which could serve as the starting point for a new rivalry. Allin is a very different man than he was when he challenged Chris Jericho for the title. He has won a number of matches and has the AEW fans behind him like never before. Sign me up for this one.

2. Hangman Page

Hangman Page is the most over person in AEW. Full stop. To think he could reach such heights so quickly after his lackluster end to 2019 is mindblowing. He has the sympathy of the AEW fans after being ostracized from the Elite and depending on what happens in his near future, he could easily be your next AEW World Champion.

His popularity has skyrocketed and he is currently one half of the AEW World Tag Team Champions. That team, however, appears to be a powderkeg ready to blow. If Page is the one to cause the split he could end up as a tremendous heel but if the rest of the Elite were to fully turn on him, well, you have your new top babyface. Both scenarios work and only time will tell what happens to the Hangman.

1. Cody

Cody has expressed that he will never challenge for the AEW World Championship again after losing to Chris Jericho at Full Gear. His word should be taken as ironclad as one of the promotion’s top babyfaces, but that has not stopped Jon Moxley from challenging him to take a shot.

Moxley mentioned that if he were to beat everyone but Cody then the self-imposed stipulation would be a cop-out. Moxley doesn’t want to do that and said if Cody thinks he can beat him then Cody should try. It would be a major match between two people who bet on themselves and it could be very emotional if they decide to go that direction. The only thing standing in their way is Cody’s word.
