AEW
Kazuchika Okada signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2024 after spending over 17 years with New Japan Pro Wrestling.
During his run in NJPW, Okada set the record as the longest reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion of all time with a 720 day reign.
Overall, “The Rainmaker” was a seven-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion and headlined Tokyo Dome 11 times.
Now ahead of his AEW World Title bout against Will Ospreay at Grand Slam France, let’s take a look if Okada will ever become the world champion in All Elite Wrestling.
Kazuchika Okada has been a champion for his entire time in AEW
Kazuchika Okada arrived in All Elite Wrestling in March 2024.
Just a few weeks into his run in the company, Okada captured the AEW Continental Championship and went on to hold the title for a record-breaking 647-day reign, which is the longest anyone has held a title in the promotion.
During this reign, Okada defeated Kenny Omega to capture the AEW International Championship and become the first Unified Champion in the company’s history.
Considering the length of his run and the fact that he has only spent about three months of this stint without a title, it seems like “The Rainmaker” has a good chance to one day hold the top prize in the promotion.
Top star status

While he has not held the AEW World Title yet, Kazuchika Okada has been presented as a top star since his arrival in the company.
Okada rarely wrestles on AEW television and has been treated as a special attraction.
Saving his best performances for pay-per-view, Okada seems to always have a high profile bout on AEW’s major shows.
Despite not yet headlining a PPV, it seems inevitable that Okada will one day sit atop in the main event picture in All Elite Wrestling.
His history with the top talent in AEW
Following AEW All Out 2026, Will Ospreay mentioned his history with Kazuchika Okada.
It was Okada who brought Ospreay into New Japan Pro Wrestling and served as a mentor or big brother to “The Aerial Assassin.”
Meanwhile, Okada’s past meetings with Kenny Omega are the stuff of legend.
From his matches with Jon Moxley, “Hangman” Adam Page and Swerve Strickland, Okada has connections to many of the other top talent on the AEW roster today that should make him a constant fixture in the main event scene moving forward.
Can Kazuchika Okada win the AEW World Title?

There is no denying that Kazuchika Okada has what it takes to be the AEW World Champion.
Since debuting in All Elite Wrestling, Okada has proven himself to be a highly entertaining on-screen character and has plenty of ties from his association with the Don Callis Family.
Considering his age and experience, Okada does not have a ton of time left in the ring, so it feels like AEW needs to pull the trigger on a title run before long.
With everything he has done in his career, Okada should and most likely will win AEW World Championship before he decides to hang up his boots once and for all.
