WWE Hell in a Cell 2018 Preview – WrestleTalk

AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe – WWE Championship

This one feels like it should be in the Cell.

The feud has been built around Joe threatening and belittling AJ’s family, with the ‘Phenomenal One’ repeatedly reaching boiling point.

This is another one in which there is a rematch being advertised for Super Show-Down, so there is a very heavy chance that Joe could finally win his first title on the WWE main roster.

However, WWE most likely want AJ to hold the strap for at least a tad longer for a couple of reasons. The first, and probably least prominent, of these is the fact that he is on the cover of the upcoming WWE 2K19 video game. Also, he is getting ever-so-close to overtaking CM Punk as the longest reigning WWE Champion of the modern era, and although Brock Lesnar recently overthrew that record, he did so with the Universal Title,  so it is possible that Styles will also better Punk’s feat.

I think something big needs to go down at Super Show-Down, and not much is bigger than a WWE Title change, so I’m going to stick with Styles to retain in this one, with Joe potentially picking up the strap in Melbourne next month.

Prediction: AJ Styles

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Braun Strowman – WWE Universal Championship Hell in a Cell match – Mick Foley as Guest Referee

Why?

Why is Mick here?

Maybe this is the start of something interesting. Perhaps Steph has paid Foley off to do something, and in exchange, will make him the new GM of Raw to replace Kurt Angle?

Or… probably not.

Surely there is a reason for Foley’s involvement though, I just can’t for the life of me figure out what it could be.

He has no clear reason to pick a favorite in this bout, and nor does Steph. He can’t really take any bumps. I don’t get it. But I am somewhat intrigued, which is good.

At some point in this match, the SHIELD and entire Raw heel roster, including a random Drew Gulak, will probably try and get involved in aid of their respective ‘leader,’ and, unfortunately, it’s probably gonna be the three-man SHIELD that get the better of about 15 other dudes. Because… I can’t think of a good reason.

Either way, I’m pretty confident that Roman’s gonna pick up the victory in this one, be it via SHIELD assistance or not, and make a second successful Universal Championship defense.

Prediction: Roman Reigns
