WWE main roster champions to appear for NXT: Three Raw & SmackDown stars to bring their gold to the developmental brand

With Grayson Waller currently holding the NXT Championship, the former WWE Tag Team Champion won’t be the only Raw name appearing for the company’s developmental brand this week.

WWE Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable will return to NXT at an upcoming event, as confirmed on social media.

With Gable set to defend his gold, there have been rumors swirling about other champions on the main roster bringing their titles to the Performance Center.

Here are three main roster champions to appear for NXT.

Intercontinental Champion Chad Gable

Chad Gable isn’t just appearing at this Friday’s NXT live event, he will also defend the Intercontinental Championship against one of the brand’s top prospects.

Saquon Shugars is set to challenge for Chad Gable’s IC Title on the September 25 non-televised live event, which will take place at the Township Auditorium in Columbia, SC.

While Stephanie Vaquer did take home the Women’s World Championship at a recent house show, Shugars winning the Intercontinental Title would be a huge surprise, given the momentum both Gable and Shugars have amassed on their respective brands.

Instead, this match will be a test for the Performance Center name, who will get the opportunity to prove that he can hang with one of WWE’s most technically proficient grapplers.

United States Champion Trick Williams

Trick Williams and Baron Corbin will battle it out for the US Championship one last time on September 25, with the two competitors set to meet in a Steel Cage match on SmackDown.

Regardless of who wins, it’d make sense to see whoever walks out of Indianapolis with the US Title return to NXT with their gold.

There are numerous options for Trick Williams to test himself against, with former rivals like Myles Borne having significant character changes since Williams’ last match for the NXT brand.

Following Baron Corbin’s NXT return during his previous run with the company, it’d be interesting to see what the current iteration of the star would do if he once again appeared for the developmental division.

WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green

Chelsea Green’s WWE Women’s Championship win at SummerSlam was one of the company’s most inspirational moments of the year, with Green very publicly fighting against the odds ahead of finally reaching the top of the mountain.

With Green’s championship reign seen by many to be motivational, we could see her bring the gold to NXT to give back to the next generation of stars.

Fans and wrestlers alike often praise the NXT women’s division, whose stars definitely deserve the opportunity to rub shoulders with SmackDown’s top women’s champion.

Amid uncertainty about lineal WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley’s status, a brief NXT run could further cement Chelsea Green as a fighting champion.
