After just over a month as WWE Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley saw her momentum totally derailed by a knee injury in early June.

Having just recently undergone surgery, Ripley’s return timeline remains up in the air, but WWE have not stripped her of her title; instead crowning Chelsea Green as Interim WWE Women’s Champion in her place.

However, with Green’s broken orbital bone leaving her future with the title uncertain, we could see someone else holding the gold by the time Ripley makes her return for the big unification match.

Here are three WWE stars who could potentially become the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion:

Nia Jax

Beginning with the most obvious choice, and Nia Jax could very well become the brand new WWE Women’s Champion this Friday on SmackDown in Mexico City (September 11).

Smelling blood in the water, Nia Jax has targeted the injured Chelsea Green week after week, however, due to Chelsea not being cleared, it has been Tiffany Stratton who’s been taking the brunt of Jax’s offense.

That will be changing this Friday however, as Green will have to step up and take Jax on one-on-one in order to keep the WWE Women’s Championship in her grasp.

Considering Green’s current physical state and the threat that Jax poses, it wouldn’t be a massive surprise to see ‘The Irresistible Force’ bring a swift end to Chelsea’s run.

Blake Monroe

Originally scheduled to make her WWE SmackDown debut on August 21, Blake Monroe ensured that did not happen when she attacked her opponent Giulia before the bell.

After doing so, Monroe stated that the match was beneath her, and she was only willing to wrestle if it was against Chelsea Green for the WWE Women’s Championship.

While we will likely see Monroe and Giulia tie up before ‘The Glamour’ gets an title opportunities, this attitude could potentially see her fast tracked to the main event picture before too long.

Monroe came into WWE ready to be a main eventer, so seeing her dethrone Green and go onto face Rhea Ripley in a unification match would be a great way to establish her as a major star and make up for all the wasted time since her NXT call-up became official back in April.

Tiffany Stratton

Interim WWE Women's Champion Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton.

Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton have been officially aligned together on WWE TV since June.

The most intriguing option to take Chelsea Green’s place in her WWE Women’s Title unification match with Rhea Ripley has to be Tiffany Stratton.

As mentioned, Stratton has been Green’s shield throughout her injury, but protecting her friend has come at more than just a physical cost for Stratton.

Stratton saw her WWE Women’s United States Title run ended by Jacy Jayne immediately after protecting Green from Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid at ringside. That, along with the constant beatdowns from Nia Jax are surely going to be brought up when Stratton turns her back in Chelsea – which many expect will happen at some point in the near future.

With Rhea Ripley and Chelsea Green being so popular, WWE should really be looking to put the Interim Title on a despised heel, and if Stratton turns her back on Chelsea, then she will certainly become that.
