WWE Matches Of The Week #8

NXT TakeOver: Chicago II
Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa

Speaking of storytelling. Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa II was better than Shakespeare. The lengths these two men have gone to over the past year have been phenomenal. Moment after moment they continuously showcase that they are the best babyface/heel dynamic in the business. With Gargano slowly but surely moving closer to the dark side, it is a narrative at its finest – not Kona Reeves “Finest” because he is just terrible.

Throughout this match, they straight up tried to murder each other every chance they could. At one point, Ciampa puts a chair around Gargano’s next and launched him at the steel steps. To make up for it, ‘Johnny Wrestling’ put his former-BFF through some tables from a 15-foot drop, mirroring Ciampa’s original turn. Like I said, better than Shakespeare. The pair sold magnificently and I was genuinely worried for the ‘Blackheart’s safety. Considering how much I despise the man, that is saying something.

WWE Money In The Bank 2018
Women’s Money In The Bank Ladder Match
Natalya vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Ember Moon vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Lana vs. Sasha Banks

Moving on to Money in the Bank now and the women’s ladder match was brilliant. Ember Moon, in particular, put on a masterclass and really outshone her fellow main roster superstars in just about every way despite her rookie status on Raw. All eight women – yes, that includes Lana – played their parts well.

Bumps were aplenty and it was so refreshing to see the division treated with such trust. There may have been a few botches here and there but it did not distract from the overall story. The finish also came out of nowhere really and I was uncertain of my feelings towards it until later… but we’ll get to that.
