Looking for a new challenger for NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan, there will be a number one contender’s battle royal to determine who will face the champion on the October 6 episode of WWE NXT.
This should be interesting with stars from NXT, Raw, SmackDown, Evolve, AAA and TNA Wrestling competing for this opportunity.
With only one star moving on to NXT Halloween Havoc 2026, the winner will have to go through 19 other competitors to advance to the big PLE at the end of October.
Here are five potential options to be the NXT Women’s Championship #1 contender’s battle royal winner.
Reina Volcan
In July, Reina Volcan made her official WWE NXT debut and was immediately presented as a force.
Despite her impressive debut, Volcan was not seen on NXT TV for the next two months.
However, Volcan made her return on the September 22 WWE NXT and took out both Kali Armstrong and Skylar Rae.
After attacking NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan on the September 29 episode, it seems like Volcan has to be a potential favorite in next week’s battle royal.
Kali Armstrong
Since making her NXT debut, Kali Armstrong has been someone for fans to keep an eye on.
After making her in-ring debut in 2025, Armstrong quickly made history when she become the first ever Evolve Women’s Champion.
On NXT, it seems like Armstrong has been demanding the spotlight at every turn.
Armstrong winning the NXT Women’s Championship #1 contender’s battle royal would put her front and center to give Kelani Jordan a different kind of challenger.
ZARIA
Despite holding the NXT Women’s North American Championship, ZARIA will look to become a double champion on the September 29 WWE NXT.
ZARIA will be one of the competitors in the NXT Women’s Championship number one contender’s battle royal.
While she will be looking for revenge on Izzi Dame for her recent harassment, ZARIA has what it takes to win this match.
With her history with Kelani Jordan, ZARIA could make for a formidable test for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Xia Brookside
To the surprise of many fans, TNA Wrestling will take part in the NXT Women’s Championship #1 contender’s battle royal on the October 6 WWE NXT.
It was then announced that TNA Knockouts World Champion Xia Brookside will be one of the competitors.
Looking to become a double champion herself, Brookside is looking to add to her collection.
Brookside winning this battle royal would be huge and signal that the WWE-TNA relationship is still going strong.
La Catalina
On the September 15 episode of WWE NXT, AAA Reina de Reinas Champion La Catalina showed up and confronted NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan.
This led to Catalina teaming with Thea Hail to defeat Jordan and ZARIA the week following.
Now coming into the NXT Women’s Championship number one contender’s battle royal, Catalina has to be viewed as a favorite.
Catalina has a ton of momentum that should put her in position to challenge Kelani Jordan for the gold.
