Two WWE championships have now officially been retired and ruled defunct during tonight’s September 1 episode of NXT on the CW Network.
This past Sunday at NXT Heatwave, Zaria unified the NXT Women’s North American Championship and Women’s Speed Championship with a win against Wren Sinclair and Kali Armstrong.
Tonight, WWE NXT General Manager Robert Stone instructed her to choose which of those two titles she wanted to continue holding.
Zaria chose to remain the NXT Women’s North American Champion, which in turn ruled the Women’s Speed Championship defunct.
Stone then announced that the Women’s Speed Title being retired meant the same fate would be the case for the Men’s Speed Title, as he ordered champion Lexis King to hand it over.
Therefore, both WWE Speed Championships are now retired and no longer active in NXT.

Creed Brothers Return To NXT
Elsewhere on tonight’s episode of WWE NXT, the Creed Brothers made their return to the brand.
Tonight’s show played host to tag team action that saw Romeo Moreno and Noam Dar score a win against Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy.
After the match, Brutus and Julius Creed stormed the ring and laid everyone out, markWing their return to the brand.
The Creeds debuted for NXT in 2021 and went on to become NXT Tag Team Champions in 2022 after also winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament.
They were called up to the main roster in 2023 alongside Ivy Nile, and in 2024 formed the American Made faction with Chad Gable.
However, they’ve been separated from Gable since last year and have struggled for TV time, mainly working on the Main Event YouTube show instead of mainline television.
