WWE Raw Preview, July 16, 2018 – WrestleTalk

Well Extreme Rules was a bit “meh,” wasn’t it?

A fairly miss-able show, nothing too important and/or surprising really happened, and all I achieved from watching it live is sitting here a day later with a really bad headache.

Anyway, Andy’s on holiday so you’re stuck with me for this week’s WWE Raw and SmackDown Live previews. Don’t all cheer at once, like. Guys? Guys… Come back…

The B-Team opened Extreme Rules by defeating the Deleters of Worlds to win the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships. A great moment and something they fully deserve after being the most entertaining part of a not-very-entertaining Raw recently.

Expect a rematch, which hopefully the B-Team will win again, possibly with some Authors of Pain or Revival shenanigans afterwards to set up the B-Team’s SummerSlam challengers.

There have also been rumors that there are already plans to break up the Deleters of Worlds. Why? Oh, I know. It’s because they’re mental. LOL! Seriously, if they do break them up already it’s an absolute shame.

Kurt Angle gave WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar an “ultimatum” last night. The ‘Beast’ either has to turn up at tonight’s Raw, agree to terms on a new contract, or be stripped of the title. I bet he does neither of the first two things, but isn’t stripped of the title either.

In fact, Paul Heyman just responded to the “ultimatum” on Twitter:

So, if Heyman’s in Vegas and Raw is in Buffalo, New York, then that means it would take Heyman a four hour flight to get there. Cutting it a bit fine, isn’t it?

Finn Bálor beat Constable Baron Corbin with a roll-up yesterday. We’ll probably get a rematch tonight. I can’t contain my excitement.

Kevin Owens is pretty much dead after being Chokeslammed off the top of the Steel Cage onto the announce table by Braun Strowman last night. The blow was so significant it completely wiped Owens’ Twitter:

I bet Strowman will come to the ring, show everyone a replay, and laugh. The awful, awful man.

Bobby Lashley beat Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules in a result some were very surprised at. Reigns will probably have a moan. Lashley will probably smile loads. The crowd will probably boo. I’ll probably go to the toilet.

Alexa Bliss retained her WWE Raw Women’s Championship last night after beating Nia Jax in an Extreme Rules match. Halfway through the match Ronda Rousey, who was in the crowd having DEFINITELY BOUGHT A TICKET LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, jumped the barricade and ambushed Mickie James. It looks like Rousey will be Bliss’ next challenger, but the ‘Baddest Woman on the Planet’s 30-day suspension isn’t over until Wednesday. Maybe we’ll have a tag team match with Bliss and James taking on Jax and Natalya. The same match it feels like we’ve seen for 436 weeks in a row.

In last night’s main event, Dolph Ziggler retained the WWE Intercontinental Title in overtime after drawing 4-4 in the 30-minute Ironman match against Seth Rollins. McIntyre’s the reason Ziggler won though, so we could see Rollins vs. McIntyre again. Or maybe (and hopefully), McIntyre might turn on Ziggler to set a match up between the two for the IC Title at SummerSlam. I’d like that. I’d like that a lot.

The Rest

  • Mojo Rawley will probably beat No Way Jose
  • More awkwardness between Sasha Banks and Bayley
  • Hopefully Elias, although they hid him from us when they were in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA last night
  • Bobby Roode will be boring
  • Jinder Mahal will be weird
  • The Riott Squad will do something mildly inconvenient
