WWE’s Dragon Lee & AEW star Dralistico’s contracts expiring soon

The contracts of WWE’s Dragon Lee and AEW’s Dralistico are reportedly nearing their expiry, according to a new report.

Real-life brothers Dragon Lee and Dralistico have been on different paths over the past several years. While both moved from Mexico to a major promotion in the United States, Lee signed with WWE in late 2022, while Dralistico, along with their other brother RUSH signed with All Elite Wrestling; the latter signing in September 2022, and former in November 2023.

While both Lee and Dralistico have been separated inside the ring for almost four years, they could potentially be reunited soon, as the Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez has revealed to his subscribers on Twitter that both stars are nearing the end of their respective contracts, writing: “Dragon Lee and Dralistico both have deals expiring fairly soon.”

It’s not yet known when exactly Lee and Dralistico’s deals will be coming up, or whether they are in negotiations with their respective companies about staying where they are.

Lee is regularly featured on WWE programming, and challenged Chad Gable for the Intercontinental Championship this past Monday on the September 14 episode of WWE Raw in Mexico City.

While he is yet to win a singles championship on Raw, Lee held the WWE World Tag Team Titles with AJ Styles for 70 days last year; he also previously captured the now defunct WWE Speed Championship and NXT North American Title.

Dralistico, in comparison, is not as regularly featured in AEW, with his last match coming on the June 6 AEW Collision taping, where he, along with his brother RUSH and Sammy Guevara challenged The Conglomeration’s Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong for the AEW World Trios Championships.

Lee and Dralistico last teamed together when they captured the AAA World Tag Team Championships from AEW’s FTR at AAA Gira Aniversario XXX in December 28, 2022.

Immediately after winning the titles Lee announced that he would be signing with WWE – something that famously caused issues between AEW and AAA.

What next for Dragon Lee & Dralistico?

With both their contracts nearing their end, it’s a lot more difficult to determine where the two brothers may land.

Will Lee depart WWE in favor of joining his two brothers in AEW, with Dralistico re-signing with Tony Khan? Will Lee re-sign with WWE and be joined by Dralistico? Or will both exit their respective companies and pursue opportunities elsewhere?

Based on how they’re both used currently, it’s hard to see why Dragon Lee would be tempted to jump ship. Sure, Lee hasn’t actually won a major singles title yet, but he’s regularly featured on TV and likely will get to that point eventually if he continues to put on show stealing performances almost every week like he has been doing.

Dralistico, much like his brother RUSH, is sporadically appearing on TV, and when he does, it is often on Collision or ROH.

While there’s no use speculating what Lee and Dralistico are thinking, WWE seems to be the better option right now based on recent evidence. AAA is thriving, so there would be opportunities both there and on WWE’s main roster.

What must be said is WWE’s tag team division is about as bad as it’s ever been right now, whereas AEW’s is thriving. So, if Lee and Dralistico have ambitions of teaming together regularly, AEW could be the better option; albeit one with far more competition for spots.
