The May 8 episode of AEW Dynamite wasn’t a good night for Swerve Strickland as he found himself on the receiving end of a betrayal.
After last week’s attack from the Christian Cage-led Patriarchy, the AEW Champion had things to say on last night’s Dynamite and those things can be seen below this news story.
Cage made his presence felt and had backup in the form of Luchasaurus, Nick Wayne and Mother Wayne.
The odds seemed to be evened up by an appearance from Brian Cage, Kaun and Toa Liona.
It was, however, The Embassy that would betray Swerve, with Christian Cage looking on and smiling as Swerve got put through the announcers’ table.
In response to this attack, Strickland took to social media and tweeted:
“Fake friends”
Former friend, Brian Cage had a pointed reply for Strickland, looking at the 2023 AEW All In, posting:
“Fake? Who took the wrong cage to Wembley”
At the August 27, 2023, AEW All In PPV, Darby Allin & Sting teamed up to defeat Christian Cage & Swerve Strickland in a Coffin Match.
Christian Cage faces Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Double or Nothing on May 26, 2024.
