Current AEW World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks have praised Kazuchika Okada for “stepping out of comfort zone” in AEW.
On the July 24 edition of AEW Dynamite, Team AEW’s Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, The Acclaimed and Darby Allin defeated The Elite to win the Blood & Guts Match.
This marked Kazuchika Okada’s first Blood & Guts match of his career since signing with All Elite Wrestling in March 2024.
Since signing and joining The Elite, Okada has shown a different side of his personality and become one of the most entertaining stars on the AEW roster.
In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, The Young Bucks discussed Kazuchika Okada’s run in AEW so far. Matthew Jackson said:
“Okada has come to AEW and completely stepped out of his comfort zone,”
“I couldn’t be prouder to see him trying new things and learning a new style. He’s a movie star with perfect timing, an unbelievable sense of humor, and he just so happens to be the greatest wrestler alive.”
“I can tell you while he doesn’t exactly prefer being in these types of matches, he’s certainly having a damn good time.”
“It would’ve been so easy to just come here and rely on the things he’s already known for. I’m so proud of him and his versatility.”
On Okada’s ability to adapt to matches like Blood & Guts, Nicholas Jackson said:
“Okada is the best,”
“He is performing so great and adapting to new matches he’s never been in as well as I’ve seen anyone be able to do it on the fly. It’s been so much fun working with him these last several months. There’s no one better.”
Kazuchika Okada is the current AEW Continental Champion since defeating Eddie Kingston on the March 20 edition of Dynamite.
The Young Bucks also addressed facing Mark Briscoe and remembering their battles with Jay Briscoe during Blood & Guts, which you can read here.
