AEW Championship Match Delayed

AEW Championship Match Delayed AEW

An AEW championship match was seemingly delayed as the champion was attacked in the opening moments of tonight’s AEW Dynamite.

UPDATE: This match did take place later in the show, and Joe did retain.

Set for tonight’s Dynamite was a AEW World Title eliminator match featuring champion Samoa Joe against Dustin Rhodes.

However, it wouldn’t be the night for Rhodes to begin chasing the championship, at least not yet at least.

As Samoa Joe was making his entrance, he was attacked from behind by Swerve Strickland.

After Swerve entirely took out Joe, including both of them going through a table by the end of the brawl, Joe’s match against Rhodes was seemingly postponed.

We’ll be sure to let you know when Dustin Rhodes versus Samoa Joe gets re-scheduled – there’s been no announcement yet on whether it will still be happening tonight.

It seems that Samoa Joe isn’t done with Swerve Strickland tonight however, after the attack tweeting:

“There is a blood price and it will be payed TONIGHT!!”

Next up on AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland looked to defend his TNT Championship against Penta El Zero Miedo.

Elsewhere on tonight’s show, AEW commentary continued to note that the Young Bucks were planning on ‘showing never before seen footage from backstage at AEW All In at Wembley’ which presumably is set to feature CM Punk.
