AEW Dynamite has kicked off with a major match tonight (February 8) in an edition that has been dubbed Championship Fight Night!
AEW Champion MJF is taking on Konosuke Takeshita in the first matchup of the night featuring future championship implications.
While the opening bout is also a championship eliminator (by which Takeshita could have earned a future title shot if he wins) there is another set for the night as well.
AEW Women’s Champion Jamie Hayter faces off against The Bunny in another championship eliminator match.
Unfortunately for the Japanese star, the opening bout went to the champ after a hard fought battle with plenty of MJF shenanigans.
After the match, MJF hit Takeshita with the Dynamite Diamond ring after gaining the victory via submission as the beatdown continued until he was interrupted by the American Dragon, Bryan Danielson.
As usual, Danielson’s presence encouraged a speedy exit for the AEW World champ.
Also set for action, the AEW World Trios Champions The Elite (Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks) will put their belts on the line against Top Flight and A.R. Fox.
The Acclaimed will defend their AEW Tag Team Championships against The Gunns.
And finally, Ricky Starks will try to best a unique match type with the Garcia-Guevara Gauntlet.
