A champion versus champion match kicked off tonight’s big edition of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam from Arthur Ashe Stadium.
With Eddie Kingston taking on Claudio Castagnoli, it was winner take all as each put their title belts on the line – Kingston’s NJPW Strong Openweight Title, and Castagnoli’s ROH World Title.
After a legitimately hard hitting match between the pair of longstanding rivals in front of a lively New York crowd, Eddie Kingston became the Ring of Honor World Champion for the first time in his career after beating Claudio Castagnoli.
Elsewhere on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam, there will be an AEW World Championship match as MJF puts the world title on the line against Samoa Joe.
And elsewhere in world title action, the AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya defends against Toni Storm.
Next up in the second bout of the night, Chris Jericho takes on protege Sammy Guevara for the first time in the history of AEW.
