It has emerged that AEW has filed a trademark with the United States Patent & Trademark Office for the term AEW Redemption.

The filing was made with the following purposes listed:

Entertainment in the nature of wrestling contests; Entertainment services in the nature of live professional wrestling performances; Entertainment services in the nature of production of professional wrestling programs and events; Entertainment services, namely, production and distribution of ongoing television programs in the field of professional wrestling

There’s been no official announcement as of this writing as to what AEW Redemption will be, but it appears to be an event name of some form, whether it’s a new pay-per-view or potentially a title for a special episode of Dynamite and/or Collision, or even a new weekly show.

We’ll keep you posted with any further updates that emerge on the details regarding AEW Redemption.

AEW Needs Moderation With Special Events

AEW has a number of special titled editions of Dynamite and Collision throughout the year – such as Spring Breakthru and Winter Is Coming – but there is a noticeable problem with that approach.

If there are too many ‘special’ episodes, they’re not special anymore as they just become the norm, and the importance of holding these uniquely titled shows wears off and loses its effect.

As noted, there’s no confirmation yet as to exactly what form an AEW Redemption show will take, but even if this doesn’t add to the list of special Dynamites and Collisions, it’s still a point worth keeping in mind going forward for the promotion.

This week, AEW will be hosting the Spring Breakthru editions of Dynamite and Collision coming off this past weekend’s Dynasty pay-per-view event, with MJF set to defend his World Championship against Darby Allin.
