AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander has addressed former rival Jade Cargill’s departure from the company amid her reportedly impending move to WWE.
Speaking to Newsday, Statlander was asked about Cargill, who Statlander dethroned to become the second-ever TBS Champion, becoming the only AEW star to defeat Cargill across her near-three year run in the company.
As well as dethroning Cargill for the TBS Championship at Double or Nothing 2023 in May, Statlander also defeated Cargill in what looks to have been her final AEW match on the September 13 AEW Rampage.
Statlander heaped praise on her former rival and the work she put in carrying the TBS Title across a 508-day title reign and addressed the reports about her future, saying:
“Me being the second-ever TBS title (holder) means nothing without Jade having her undefeated streak and being an unstoppable monster.
“Whatever she chooses to do, I know that she’s going to do great at it. And she’s going to be a star, no matter what.”
Although Cargill’s move to WWE is still yet to be confirmed, AEW President Tony Khan did recently address her departure from the company, which you can read here.
