Top AEW Star Reflects On Decision To Leave WWE WWE/AEW

Top star and AEW Women’s World Champion Timeless Toni Storm has reflected on her decision to leave WWE in 2021.

Since arriving in All Elite Wrestling back in 2022, Toni Storm has become one of the faces of the company’s women’s division.

In the midst of her third reign as AEW Women’s World Champion, Storm has even underwent a character evolution with her “Timeless” persona one of the most popular in all of the promotion.

Before her time in Tony Khan’s company, Storm had a stint with WWE where she won the NXT UK Women’s Championship and had a run on the SmackDown brand before deciding to leave the company at the end of 2021.

Appearing on the latest episode of Going Ringside, Timeless Toni Storm was in full character, but opened up about her decision to leave WWE. She said:

“Well, before AEW, yes, I was a WWE superstar. Eventually came a time where I thought, I must branch out. Something was calling for me.”

“There was something inside of me that says, Toni, no, your destiny is elsewhere and so I went for it. I don’t know what come over me. It was a blur…”

When the host brought her previous quote about the backend of her WWE run crushing her love for wrestling, Storm said:

“Oh, something like that. I mean, it was all so many things. It was so many things.”

“Looking back, it was a crazy time in my life, you know? I’m still trying to make sense of it, but I’m happy with where I’ve landed. I’m happy with the decision that I made.”

“I mean, thank God for AEW honestly, because you know, there was a time where I wasn’t happy where I was and if it weren’t for All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, I don’t know what I would have been doing.”

“I’m not sure of the trajectory of my life, where it would have gone, had I not had the option to come to All Elite Wrestling so I’m very thankful for it. My heart is here.”

Timeless Toni Storm is set to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thunder Rosa at AEW Dynasty on April 21. For the full lineup for the event, click here.
