A top AEW star is said to be off television for ‘undisclosed reasons’.
On this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite (June 14), AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm retained her championship against her number one contender Skye Blue.
For the match, Toni made her entrance alongside her Outcasts partner Ruby Soho, who was carrying a cutout of Saraya with her, with Saraya not being present on the show itself.
It was reported that, prior to her injury at NJPW’s Resurgence show, Mercedes Mone was planned for the Forbidden Door show in a match against Saraya, which will no longer be happening due to the injury.
In an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, not only will Mercedes be unable to be at Forbidden Door, but Saraya herself is currently off TV for what is said to be ‘undisclosed reasons’.
There were also reportedly talks between AEW and Stardom for potential Stardom involvement at Forbidden Door, with Toni Storm being named as the potential opponent.
Toni captured the AEW Women’s World Championship from the injured Jamie Hayter at AEW Double or Nothing last month.
She is set to team with Ruby Soho against Skye Blue and Willow Nightingale on the debut episode of AEW Collision tomorrow night.
