AEW Star Reflects On ‘Honor’ Of Giving Legend His First Bump In Company AEW

An AEW star has reflected on the ‘honour’ of giving The Icon Sting his first-ever bump in the company in 2021.

Taking place in a special Street Fight tag match on the March 7, 2021 episode of AEW Dynamite, WWE Hall of Famer Sting made his return to the ring after a six year absence and presumed retirement.

Prior to the match Sting had not competed since September 2015, when he faced off with Seth Rollins for the WWE Championship at the Night of Champions pay-per-view.

After taking a buckle-bomb from Rollins, Sting suffered a scary injury which ended his brief in-ring career in the company.

The manner of Sting’s final in-ring appearance led many to believe his days competing were over by the time he signed with AEW in December 2020.

However, that changed when Sting and Darby Allin teamed up for the first, of what would be many more times for the previously mentioned Street Fight tag match – taking on Team Taz’s Brian Cage & Ricky Starks.

Now, in reflection of the match Cage took to Twitter, re-tweeting a clip of the moment he delivered the 64-year-old’s first bump in the ring in six years.

Cage said:

Looking back, I was honored to give @Sting his first bump, first match, and to be there at his last.

Sting is set to call-time on his four decade career at AEW Revolution on March 3, where he and Darby Allin take on The Young Bucks.

Not only that but the match now has the added stakes of being contested for the AEW Tag Team Championships, with Sting and Allin winning the titles from Big Bill & Ricky Starks on February 7 edition of Dynamite.
