More AEW stars have advanced in the tournament to fill a vacated championship after the recent retirement of Sting.
On tonight’s episode of AEW Rampage that aired as the third live hour of All Elite Wrestling after Dynamite in Toronto, another team advanced in the tag team tournament to fill the vacated titles.
The Best Friends (Orange Cassidy and Trent Beretta) beat Kyle Fletcher and Powerhouse Hobbs to advance in the tournament to determine the next AEW Tag Team champs.
This secures their spot as the ‘Wildcard 1’ team that is next slotted to face the Undisputed Kingdom in the tournament.
The winner of that match will take on the winner of the Young Bucks versus Private Party to determine which team will advance to the final match at AEW Dynasty on pay-per-view.
Elsewhere around AEW tonight, there were two big title changes during matches on Dynamite.
Kazuchika Okada bested Eddie Kingston for the Continental Championship as well as Adam Copeland capturing the TNT Championship from Christian Cage during an ‘I Quit’ match.
