AEW’s Tony Khan has revealed that two AEW stars were recently released from the company due to no showing multiple events.
AEW held a batch of talent cuts on Monday night, with numerous wrestlers being released from their contracts with the company.
Two of the more surprising names released were Brent and Brandon Tate, known as The Boys in Ring of Honor.
Their release was a surprising one as they had been an important part of an ongoing story with Dalton Castle and Johnny TV on Ring of Honor, with Castle and TV set to face off at Supercard of Honor tomorrow night.
Speaking on the Supercard of Honor media call, Khan gave insight into the release of The Boys, noting that the pair didn’t show up to work on multiple occasions, so he made the tough call to release them.
Khan said that the releases were done with AEW ‘keeping their eye’ on their budget to allow a war chest when competing for top talent.
Another released AEW star is set to return to the company, which you can see here.
Asked specifically about The Boys being cut given they are in a key ROH storyline with Dalton Castle, Khan said the cuts are all different situations. He said both Brandon & Brent Tate didn't show to work on multiple occasions and he had to make the tough call. https://t.co/OfqV5yAXi3
