AEW Champion Describes Need For ‘Balance’ Between Aspects Of Character AEW

An AEW Champion has described finding a ‘balance’ for their latest character iteration after returning from injury.

Kris Statlander made a triumphant return at AEW Double or Nothing to be a surprise second opponent for Jade Cargill, besting her and winning the TBS Championship.

While Statlander got a thunderous ovation, her fan favorite status with the crowd really included a ground swell of support for the star during the time she was out of action with injury.

Since having returned and mostly dropping the former alien portion from her character (for the most part), Kris Statlander has recently expanded on what it takes to find that balance between fun and serious.

The AEW TBS Champion Kris Statlander told Under the Ring:

“I came back and I feel like now in this version of Kris that has come back from injury a second time and has gone through super fun alien and very serious.

“I feel like we are trying to find the balance of a good in-between of a fun, very cool awesome person that can also be serious when she needs to be.

“I feel like a lot of people feel that way, but that is kind of who I am. I can’t be too serious all the time because that’s just not fun, and I like having fun, and I like laughing and making people laugh,

“I’m in a group with the Best Friends, and they’re all a group of goofballs also, so it’s hard not to have fun when you’re with them.”

Statlander recently successfully retained the TBS Championship against a former AEW Women’s World Champion, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. on AEW Collision.
