Another WWE talent has revealed that their time with the company has come to an end, taking to social media to make the announcement.
After the announcement that former long running WWEID Women’s Champion Laynie Luck was departing the company just a week after losing her WWEID title, another talented prospective has confirmed they are out as well.
Another WWEID talent confirms departure

Posting to his X account, Marcus Mathers announced his departure from the WWEID program.
Mathers wrote:
“As of this week, my time with WWEID has come to an end. What an incredible two years it’s been. I’ve learned so much, gained invaluable knowledge and made friendships and memories that I’ll always cherish. I want to thank WWE for their time! Time is the most valuable thing any of us can give.
“So when this chapter closed, I did what I know how to do, I kept moving. I rolled up to The Dungeon and trained with some of the hungriest people in the world. Today I got Amazing Red, Tomorrow Nick Gage, match Sunday and match Monday.
“Now my next chapter awaits and it’s up to me and my hunger to take me there. I’m in the drivers seat. I’m going to show up EVERYWHERE to fight ANYONE.”
Mathers previously was a regular performer for independent promotions including GCW and Beyond Wrestling before appearing on Evolve. Earlier this week he even wrestled an NXT dark match, making the departure even more shocking.
Has WWEID actually led to signings?

Actually, yes.
With the WWEID program serving as an interesting step in aligning with independent wrestling in order to offer both training and opportunities to talent – it seems that for every case of a success, there have been departures.
With the most notable group to jump from WWEID prospect to Evolve to NXT being the Vanity Project, at least for Jackson Drake, Rickey Smokes and Brad Baylor, all of whom who made the journey.
However notable examples of departures including the Vanity Project’s own Zayda Steel and Bryce Donovan would go on to leave the WWEID.
What does this mean?

While the WWEID program doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, anytime soon – it has far lower success rates than longer standing recruitment tool, WWE NIL.
The WWE Next-in-line program recruits collegiate athletes by identifying talent that could take their skills from their current sport and turn it into WWE gold.
With notable examples of success stories from the WWE NIL program being the likes of Tiffany Stratton, Oba Femi and Sol Ruca – clearly the college to superstar pipeline is strong.
While perhaps the WWEID program will continue to gain momentum over time, so far it is the less successful of the developmental pathways into the Performance Center.
