A new report has confirmed that Laynie Luck’s WWE ID contract will not be renewed.
On October 3, Laynie Luck’s 320 day WWE ID Women’s Title reign came to an end when she dropped the title to Monica Monroe.
Given the length of her run as champion and her over 10 years of experience in the industry, many will have assumed that WWE would be interested in signing Luck to a contract – something fellow independent star Allie Katch called to happen earlier this year – however, it has now been revealed that WWE have opted not to renew Luck’s contract.
Fightful Select reports that Luck will “effectively be a free agent” on October 9, with the 34-year-old becoming the latest prominent WWE ID name to not be signed to a proper talent contract as a result of the program.
As well as defending her WWE ID Women’s Title across the independent scene, Luck made nine appearances on WWE Evolve in 2026, including unsuccessful attempts to win the Evolve Women’s Championship from Wendy Choo and current holder Nikkita Lyons.
The WWE ID program has certainly had some success stories, notably the likes of current NXT North American Champion Jackson Drake and two-time NXT Tag Team Champions Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes – all of which were among the first was of ID recruits announced.
Sean Legacy, and EK Prosper have also been fixtures of NXT, while Jack Cartwheel has found a consistent spot in AAA since coming through the program also, so it’s certainly not been all bad, but there has also been plenty of talent who either opted to drop out or didn’t have their ID deals renewed such as AEW’s Zayda Steel, Bryce Donovan and Fallyn Grey.
Where could Laynie Luck land next?
Luck has received plenty of support from fellow indie talent since news of her WWE ID departure, with Jazmin Allure, Shazza McKenzie and Veda Scott among those to praise the 34-year-old.
But now, with a WWE contract off the table, where does she go from here?
As mentioned, Luck has over a decade of experience in the ring, and has already shown her talents in other notable promotions such as All Elite Wrestling and TNA.
With AEW recently recruiting Dani Luna and Mara Sadè and reportedly holding talks with Kairi Sane, they may not be in the market for another new addition to their women’s division, but TNA could certainly benefit from signing Luck to a deal.
Luna and Sadè are among the notable departures from the promotion this year, and while they have filled those gaps with the likes Zoey Serrano and Gabby Forza, Luck should still be someone they take a look at.
If Luck still has ambitions of WWE, a move to TNA could also potentially pave the way for that move given the two company’s working relationship, so there is also that.
We wish Luck all the best in the next steps of her career, whatever she chooses to do.
