The fate of Tony D’Angelo was revealed on last night’s Tuesday, July 11 episode of WWE NXT on the USA Network.
To recap the storyline, there was apparently a “rat” who had snitched on D’Angelo and reported all the crimes he’d committed to the police, which resulted in him being arrested.
At first it seemed that Gallus were responsible, but then, there was a twist as Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo – who was supposed to be D’Angelo’s associate – seemed to be in on sending D’Angelo down and taking over as the “new” Don of NXT.
A match was announced for last night’s show which was Joe Coffey of Gallus vs Stacks – if Coffey won, D’Angelo would be convicted, but if Stacks won, D’Angelo would be released from jail.
Early on in the match it was made clear that there was a deal between Coffey and Stacks where they’d agreed for Stacks to lose… or at least that’s what Coffey thought.
In yet another twist, Stacks had actually tricked Coffey into thinking he’d let Coffey have the win, and via a phone call to commentary from jail, D’Angelo revealed that he and Stacks were sticking together.
Stacks did end up winning the match, and there will be a “homecoming” for D’Angelo on next week’s NXT.
D’Angelo and Stacks will also be getting a shot at Gallus’ NXT Tag Team Championship, likely at the Great American Bash on July 30.
