WWE Hall Of Famer Criticizes ‘Childish Stuff’ From The Elite AEW

The much-anticipated return of The Elite to AEW television has seen a mixed bag of responses, not just among AEW fans.

With the Chicago fans at the Prudential Centre split between their “f**k CM Punk” and “f**k The Elite” chants, things weren’t necessarily made much better by The Elite’s decision to mock CM Punk in the ring, with those close to CM Punk being unhappy.

Whether it was Matt Jackson taking a shot at Punk missing the Buckshot Lariat or Kenny Omega hitting the GTS and biting his opponent, there were moments where The Elite opened themselves up for criticism.

One man who met what he saw with that criticism was WWE Hall of Famer, Booker T, who spoke on his Hall of Fame podcast, saying:

“I’m perplexed on that situation right there just because I don’t think (there) was anything tasteful about it.”

Exploring the issues further, particularly from a storytelling standpoint, Booker T stated:

“They’re gonna be heels, they’re going to get booed anyway so leaning into it, it’s just rehashing what happened at the scrum.

“It does nothing for that company.”

His criticism of how The Elite chose to do business continued, with Booker T reflecting on his own time in the business:

“I just think it’s childish stuff.

“I’ve had beef with guys in the business before.

“We handle it, we squash it, we move on and normally, that’s the way it used to be, but now it’s different.”

The big change, as he sees it, is in the structure of the locker room, with Booker T concluding:

“And now it’s different because now nobody is getting their asses whooped.

“No real consequences, no real repercussions, no real men running around.

“That’s got a lot to do with it.

“There’s no locker room etiquette, you know what I mean?”

Although violence isn’t the solution to any issue, personal or business-related, strong locker room leadership is, no doubt, a key to a stable wrestling environment.
