Booker T Doesn’t Think WWE Name Will Ever Be Able To Retire WWE

WWE Hall of Famer and NXT commentator Booker T has commented on recent WWE commentary changes made by the company for Raw and SmackDown.

Following SummerSlam, WWE has introduced new commentary lineups, with former SmackDown tandem Michael Cole and Wade Barrett moved to Monday Night Raw while Cole also heads up SmackDown, along with Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick.

Discussing the topic on his Hall of Fame podcast, Booker said he understood why WWE made the decision however, would call into question Cole’s capacity to wind down from WWE now that the company have placed him on both Raw and Smackdown going forward.

Booker said:

“Cole ain’t gonna ever be able to retire, He can forget about it.

“It’s hard finding the next Michael Cole, I do understand wanting to have Michael Cole as a part of both brands.

“I do know Michael Cole wants to wind down a little bit as well. I don’t know how long this thing is gonna last.”

Despite it not seeming very likely in light of these new changes, Cole has spoken openly about retirement, most recently in an appearance on the Pat McAfee show in May.

The 56-year-old said that while he doesn’t plan to retire just yet, 60 may be the age he begins to step back from his responsibilities.

Booker recently questioned why a different announcer didn’t get called up to one of the main roster commentary teams, click here to read his comments.
