Becky Lynch Vs Liv Morgan At WWE Day 1 Had Botched Finish

The finish to Becky Lynch vs Liv Morgan for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Day 1 was reportedly botched.

In the closing moments of the title bout, Lynch pinned Morgan after a Manhandle Slam. Despite the seemingly decisive finish, Morgan kept wiping her eyes, and acted somewhat confused.

As per Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the original plan was for Lynch to have her feet on the ropes during the pin, most likely to give a reason for the two stars to face off in another rematch.

Watching the finish back, Lynch appeared to take advantage after poking Morgan in the eyes, however at the time, the eye poke wasn’t acknowledged on commentary.

Discussing the finish of the match, Meltzer said:

“Yeah they botched that one. So probably, the idea was for Becky and Liv Morgan to do another match the way they had done that finish. And evidently, because they didn’t do the finish right, now they’re kinda having to reshuffle things.”
