Bruce Prichard Explains Why He Missed Recent WWE TV Tapings

Bruce Prichard has addressed reports that he wasn’t backstage for multiple TV tapings recently, revealing the reason for his absence.

Per a previous report, the Raw & SmackDown Executive Director had missed the tapings due to a non-COVID-19 illness. Speaking on Something To Wrestle, Prichard confirmed that he missed three TV tapings due to him taking a vacation, then catching the Flu.

Providing clarification on his backstage absence, Prichard said:

“I’m f**king great. Here’s the funny thing, I had a great vacation in Cobo. I got a little bit of Montezuma’s revenge. To address some of the rumor and innuendo, which is complete horses**t, out there in the wrestling media. For years, and I will go back to the 90s or the 80s, I would always save my vacation until the end of the year so that I could take vacation around Thanksgiving and Christmas. It steals a couple of extra days.

“This year, I took at it at a time where we didn’t have two SmackDowns, we pre-recorded and we had a comp show. There was no TV to go to. I had my vacation tied during that time to where it looked like ‘Bruce hasn’t been here for three TVs in a row.’ Then, I got the flu. I was running a fever and not feeling well. We have a great team and an incredible support system that was there. I missed three TVs.”

Several other top executives, including Vince McMahon, were absent from the December 27 WWE Raw taping. Prichard, McMahon, Adam Pearce and Michael Hayes all reportedly returned to their backstage roles during WWE Day 1.
