Bryan Danielson On What He Told Vince McMahon When Asked Why He Was Leaving WWE WWE

Bryan Danielson has recalled his response to Vince McMahon when the WWE Chairman asked why he was leaving WWE for AEW.

Danielson’s WWE contract expired following his Universal Title bout against Roman Reigns in April 2021. Since arriving in AEW that September, the former WWE Champion has shown off his more brutal side, in what many consider to be the run of his career.

During an interview on Wrestling Observer Radio, Danielson noted that he is enjoying having the freedom to bleed during his matches. Recalling a conversation in which he told Vince McMahon that he wanted to be able to bleed, Danielson said:

“I don’t like to divulge my conversations with Vince at all because I know he’s a very private person, but I will say this, one of the things….when I finally made my decision I’m like, ‘Okay, I’m set on this decision’, and he was kind of asking me why (leaving WWE for AEW) and I said, ‘You know, there’s part of me too that just wants to be able to bleed’ and he immediately said, ‘Well, I’m sorry I’ll never be able to give you that.’ So yeah, it’s not like I want to do it all the time. There’s something, I don’t know, incredibly life-affirming about it, as strange as that sounds.”

At AEW Revolution, Danielson was pinned by Moxley, after a bloody match. The duo continued to brawl after the bout, until the scrap was broken up by William Regal.
