Carmelo Hayes Comments After Meeting With Bobby Lashley On SmackDown

NXT Champion Carmelo Hayes has now commented on his appearance on the July 21 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

Despite not getting called up to the main roster in the 2023 WWE Draft, Hayes has now made several appearances on the main roster.

After confronting Baron Corbin on the June 9 edition of SmackDown, Hayes made his main roster in-ring debut on the June 26 episode of Raw, losing to Finn Balor in singles action.

Hayes made another appearance on the main roster on this week’s SmackDown, approaching Bobby Lashley backstage.

WWE shared a photo of Lashley, Hayes and Trick Williams from the episode on social media, fuelling speculation about a potential alliance.

Hayes shared this post, tweeting:

It has been speculated that Lashley is building a new faction, following previous interactions with the Street Profits.

Hayes has been the NXT Champion since defeating Bron Breakker for the gold at NXT Stand & Deliver in April.

Because of these recent main roster appearances, many are predicting that he will lose his NXT Title when he defends it against Ilja Dragunov at next week’s NXT The Great American Bash.

Ahead of the June 30 special, the NXT North American Title has changed hands, with Dominik Mysterio defeating Wes Lee for the gold.
