Chris Jericho Punching AEW Fan ‘Was Not A Work’

On last night’s AEW Road Rager special, one over-zealous fan appeared to attempt to enter the ring during Chris Jericho’s entrance.

Jericho appeared to try and punch the would-be intruder, leading some to speculate that the spot was perhaps a work.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider however, the intrusion was very real. Answering a fan question he said:

“We are told it was not [a work] and AEW needs to make sure nothing of that sort ever, ever happens again. If that was the venue’s fault, AEW needs to address it with all future buildings so no whatever lapse took place last night is never repeated. If it was AEW’s fault, they need to make sure they correct whatever mistake was made. It could have been a situation where something went terribly wrong and everyone is lucky it wasn’t. As far as fault on the part of a wrestler in that situation, I’ve seen lots of instances where fans hit the ring and in my opinion, the second they cross the rail, they, not the talents are the ones at fault. No fan should ever, ever cross the guard rail.”

Thankfully the fan was quickly restrained by security and ring announcer Justin Roberts before being escorted from the building.
