An update has emerged on Sonya Deville’s injury status, with Deville out of action for almost a year following surgery.
Deville announced that she suffered a torn ACL in August 2023, while holding the WWE Women’s Tag-Team Championship with Chelsea Green.
Ahead of her hiatus, Deville relinquished her title, and was replaced in her tag-team by Piper Niven.
Deville hasn’t wrestled since teaming with Green in a losing effort against Bianca Belair and Charlotte Flair on the July 28 edition of SmackDown.
Nine months on from Deville’s last match, it has now been reported that Deville is expected to return to WWE soon.
Noting that Deville has been training ahead of an in-ring return, Dave Meltzer wrote the following in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter:
Deville is expected to be back soon and has been training for her return after knee surgery.
Green has remained in her tag-team with Piper Niven during Deville’s absence, with the duo most recently teaming up on the April 15 edition of Raw, defeating Katana Chance and Kayden Carter.
Both Green and Niven competed in the battle royal to crown the new Women’s World Champion on the April 22 Raw show, which was ultimately won by Becky Lynch.
The title was relinquished by Rhea Ripley, with Ripley currently taking some time away from the ring to recover from an injury. For the latest update on plans for Ripley following the WWE Draft, click here.
Lynch has now revealed the important advice she received from a WWE legend, which you can read more about right here.
