Tonight is a big night for Cody Rhodes and Red Velvet as they will take on Jade Cargill and Shaquille O’Neal. However, Cody is hopeful that this is the start of big things for his tag partner.
During the AEW Revolution media call, Rhodes was asked about Red Velvet possibly being signed to a full-time contract. He noted that he hopes that is the case and that she is part of the family. Here is the quote, courtesy of Sean Ross Sapp:
“Amy Nemmity asks about Red Velvet getting signed full-time. Cody Rhodes is hoping that’s the case, and that she’s stepped up. He says a tier 0 and a retainer contract is still a part of the family, but getting signed full-time and the ‘All Elite’ graphic is carefully done.”
The initial confrontation between Cody Rhodes and Jade Cargill took place in early November. Since then they have been building to a match involving Shaq. With Brandi Rhodes unable to compete due to her pregnancy, Red Velvet stepped up in her place as Cody’s partner.
The tag team match will kick-off the show tonight on AEW Dynamite.
