Cody Rhodes Reflects On How Bullet Club & The Elite Changed Pro Wrestling AEW

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes has reflected on how Bullet Club and The Elite helped to change the pro wrestling world.

In 2016, Cody Rhodes made the difficult choice to leave a contract with WWE and bet on himself by going on the independent scene and more prominent promotions, such as Ring of Honor, IMPACT Wrestling and NJPW.

During his time after WWE, Rhodes aligned himself with Bullet Club and became close friends with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks of The Elite.

This relationship led to the original “All In” event that effectively led to the formation of All Elite Wrestling less than a year later.

In a new interview with CBS Sports, Cody Rhodes reflected on how Bullet Club and The Elite were able to help change the pro wrestling landscape. He said:

“I think as I grow old I’ll probably wax poetic and grow even fonder of the things I was able to be a part of. The people I was able to team with.”

“When we were a group, The Bullet Club, The Elite, the idea was to change the world. We really did actually change, at least, our world.”

Rhodes continued on to reflect on the success of AEW and starting a revolution in wrestling, saying:

“The reality is I can name about eight people. If one of them weren’t there it wouldn’t have happened. An alternative wouldn’t exist.”

“It wouldn’t have spring-boarded me into the position I am now. All of these factors — and the biggest factor being the fans themselves.”

Cody Rhodes will compete in the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match at the titular event on January 27. For the full lineup for WWE Royal Rumble, click here.
