VIDEO: Cody Rhodes Pays Tribute To Dusty Rhodes In NXT Great American Bash Cold Open

WWE star Cody Rhodes has shared the opening video package for NXT The Great American Bash, revealing his heartfelt tribute to Dusty Rhodes.

NXT’s latest iteration of The Great American Bash will emanate from the H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, Texas on Sunday (July 30).

Shawn Michaels recently revealed that Cody Rhodes will make an appearance in the opening video package that will open the show.

WWE and Cody Rhodes have now shared this video package ahead of the event, which you can watch below.

While a number of legendary wrestling names are featured in the video, the cold open heavily focused on Dusty Rhodes.

Not only is Dusty Rhodes credited with creating The Great American Bash show back in NWA in 1985, Rhodes also played a key role at the Performance Center ahead of his passing, influencing a whole generation of stars.

In the video package, Dusty’s son Cody Rhodes acknowledged the American Dream’s influences on NXT, calling his impact ‘palpable’.

WWE has now revealed which match will open the show, which you can read more about right here.

The show will be headlined by Carmelo Hayes defending the NXT Championship against Ilja Dragunov.

Several other title matches have also been announced for the show, including an NXT Women’s Title bout.
