Cody Rhodes Wants To Bring Back Old WCW Concept WWE

Cody Rhodes wants to bring back an old WCW concept.

During the height of the Monday Night Wars, “Mean” Gene Okerlund became synonymous with plugging the WCW Hotline during episodes of Nitro to give fans all the scoops in the wrestling world.

Thanks to the advent of the internet, the hotline has become a thing of the past with most wrestling news and information circulating on websites or social media.

On the latest edition of WWE’s After The Bell, Cody Rhodes proposed bringing back the scoops hotline now. He stated:

“Here is what I would love to bring back, and maybe you guys know somebody who could do this. If I had any smidge of power, I would bring back the hotline.”

“I would absolutely bring back the hotline. You can now do it as a text line, essentially, but there were real scoops, occasionally, on the hotline.”

“Or, they were vague enough to where, if you were a fan, you knew. ‘Oh, he’s talking about Big Boss Man.’ The hotline, I get it that it was a cash grab. ‘Pay X amount of money.’ I get that. Maybe we lessen that part to an extent.”

“I would host the weekly hotline. I want to drop five things. Say I drop three things, one of them is real. You have to wade through it all. ‘See, you should be following the hotline.'”

Cody Rhodes last wrestled in a six-man tag team win with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn against The Judgment Day on the August 21 edition of WWE Raw.

Rhodes recently revealed what he misses the most about his time in AEW, which you can read at this link.
