Dean Ambrose Posts Video Reclaiming Former Ring Name

If you thought Dean Ambrose’s departure from WWE was a work, this might sway your thinking. Dean Ambrose has changed his Twitter name to Jon Moxley, his former ring name. He has also tweeted out a video of himself escaping a prison and training under his former name.

Moxley has never used his Twitter, with his bio previously reading “they made me get a Twitter”. This video is currently the only thing on the account. The video depicts him breaking out of prison, which would appear to be an obvious metaphor for his WWE departure. He rips out a string of barbed wire, leaving it wrapped from his bloody arm. The video ends with the reveal of his former name.

WWE announced that Dean Ambrose would not be signing a contract extension in February. After reuniting with The Shield at Fastlane, Ambrose was quietly written off television. Despite having another farewell Shield match at The Shield’s Final Chapter, Ambrose left the company soon after.

He debuted as Jon Moxley in 2004. After years on the independent scene, Moxley developed a reputation for his ring work and his promos. His work in DragonGate USA drew the ire of WWE officials and he was signed to a WWE contract in 2011. It is still unknown where Moxley will be wrestling in the near future.
