Details On Backstage Mood At AEW Dynamite Amidst Cody Rhodes Drama AEW

Cody Rhodes has been described as a polarizing figure in AEW by insiders, so what was the mood like backstage at this week’s AEW Dynamite?

On Tuesday (February 15) the wrestling world was rocked by the news of Cody and wife Brandi Rhodes were electing to not re-sign with AEW and were perhaps headed back to WWE leaving many more questions than answers including the impact on the rest of the AEW locker room.

According to a report on Fightful Select, the mood was largely unchanged in the AEW locker room. Fightful reports that everyone they asked noted that things were “business as usual,” with one source quick to note that in pro wrestling, life goes on.

The sources Fightful spoke to noted that nothing, in particular, seemed out of the ordinary and the expectation is that AEW will not attempt to ignore or erase the existence of Cody and Brandi Rhodes from their history.

While Cody was removed from the intro, he notably was mentioned by name on commentary.

Rhodes was mentioned during the Dynamite main event for the TNT Championship between Sammy Guevara and Darby Allin.

Cody was also mentioned during the opening segment featuring CM Punk and MJF in reference to Rhodes having taken on the late Brodie Lee (real name Jon Huber) in an epic dog collar match for the TNT Championship, which would prove to be Huber’s last.
