WWE Star’s Contract Expiring In ‘5-6 Weeks’ WWE

The latest on Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract status following a recent shake up in WWE’s talent relations department.

Drew’s contract with WWE is set to expire in the coming weeks, with it being reported that he and WWE had still yet to come to an agreement on a new contract.

In an update from PWInsider, Drew and WWE have still yet to come to terms on a new deal, with his current deal set to expire ‘in the 5-6 week range’, with pressure mounting to get a new deal done if they wish to avoid him landing on the open market.

If the two sides don’t reach a new deal or an extension, McIntyre would be free to wrestle anywhere he wants by late May/early June.

Another source told PWInsider that the two have been in discussions for several weeks, but have yet to officially agree on terms for a new deal.

The report also notes that one of the reasons WWE made changes in it’s Talent Relations department last week was in order to instill officials, Chris Legentil and Matthew Altman, into the division who have forged past relationships with talent in order to create a much stronger signing process.

On top of McIntyre, the company is said to be making it a point to ensure that Becky Lynch’s deal is also completed before it expires soon.

WWE allowing deals to get this close to expiration was very uncommon for WWE before the Endeavor takeover, and the company is now attempting to course correct that.
