A top AEW star has revealed that his existing contract was close to coming up, but he has now signed on to stay in the company long-term.
Speaking on AdFreeShows, ROH World Champion and NJPW STRONG Champion Eddie Kingston revealed that despite a lack of reports on his deal expiring within the wrestling news media, his deal was in fact set to come up.
Kingston would reveal that he has already put pen to paper on a new four-year extension with Tony Khan’s company.
Discussing the deal, Kingston said:
“If you notice, you haven’t heard anything about me with a contract because I did my s**t on the low.
“My thing was coming up, I got four more years. I’m straight.
“No one needs to know how much, no one needs to know how long. I got my f**king s**t. I got my s**t and I’m going to be there for a minute because there is nowhere else I want to be.”
Kingston did not reveal when he signed his contract extension so there is no clear indication how many more years exactly we can expect to see The Mad King on AEW TV.
After four years without a championship to his name, Kingston now holds two major prizes from two different promotions.
However, despite his current momentum and finally being able to put bitter rival Claudio Castagnoli in the rear-view, Kingston must prepare to put both titles on the line at AEW WrestleDream on October 1.
It was recently announced that Kingston will defend both his ROH World Championship and NJPW STRONG Championship against Katsuyori Shibata at the pay-per-view event from Seattle, WA.
