Finn Balor has shared his honest thoughts on Kevin Owens’ WWE return, with Owens being added to his match at SummerSlam.

While Finn Balor was meant to face Sami Zayn in a singles match on August 2 to determine the next Undisputed WWE Title challenger, Nick Aldis made a couple of additions to the bout before the bell rang.

First adding GUNTHER to the match, Aldis also welcomed back Kevin Owens, who ultimately won the #1 contender’s four-way in his first match in 17 months.

Speaking with NinaDrama during a livestream at the Zuffa Boxing 1o event, Finn Balor noted that he’s personally very happy that Owens was able to return from an injury of this nature.

Noting that in the moment, he got to be a fan and watch the crowd’s reaction to Owens’ entrance, Balor said:

“Kevin Owens, one of my oldest friends in the business, he had a very serious neck injury. He was out for almost a year and a half, so just the fact that he was able to return to the ring made me very happy for him as a person.

“But as a professional… He returned as a surprise at SummerSlam, I was standing in the ring and when I heard the pop that the crowd made when his music hit, it was absolutely incredible.

“It kind of took me out at the moment, where I could become a fan again and just stand there and watch the live audience react to Kevin Owens’ entrance. I was very, very happy to be there.”

Many fans have expressed feelings of sympathy for Finn Balor, who some had predicted ahead of the match could be in line to challenge for CM Punk’s Undisputed WWE Championship.

Despite only holding it for one day, Finn Balor recently stated that he still views his Universal Title win at SummerSlam 2016 as him reaching the top of the mountain in WWE.
