A former WWE star has said they discussed a potential faction break up prior to the entire group’s release earlier this year.

Earlier this year, the long feud between the Wyatt Sicks and the MFTs came to an end on the SmackDown show prior to WrestleMania 42.

The following week, WWE held it’s latest round of talent releases, which included the entire Wyatt Sicks faction; Bo Dallas, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Erick Rowan and Nikki Cross.

The Wyatts had grown stagnant prior to their departure due to the repetitive nature of their rivalry with the MFTs, and even the members of the group itself realised.

Joe Gacy Discussed Wyatt Sicks Break Up Angle

Speaking to Denise Salcedo, former WWE star Joe Gacy noted that he spoke with Dexter Lumis shortly after the SmackDown show in Vegas about how the group felt ‘a little weird and stagnant’.

Gacy said that they discussed the possibility of breaking up the group, with Gacy, Lumis and Cross turning heel to feud with Uncle Howdy, Rowan and Alexa Bliss.

He said:

“Vegas, after we did SmackDown, me and Dexter, Sam, were talking. We both felt like things were a little weird and stagnant with the Wyatt Sicks because they were repetitively booking us.

“Then me and him had this thought. I know we don’t wanna break the group up, but what if we did something along the lines of me, Dexter, Nikki. It could be something along the lines where I turn on Uncle Howdy, then it’s like ‘what the hell’, then eventually it leads to Nikki and Dexter join me, so we’re our own little faction.

“Then it’s Bo and Rowan, the original people with Windham, we could have been the outsiders in a way, and then you could have introduced Alexa there to join them, it could have been Alexa, Rowan and Bo against me, Dexter and Nikki as heels.

“That was nothing I never pitched, it was just a thought me and Dexter kind of talked about. I thought that could have been cool to change things up if we weren’t going to go in any other direction.”
